Chakkhaurin, or "Khauri," is the son of a Ta'alsheen Haradric merchant from Pelargir. He is not a citizen of Harad, but was born in Gondor.
Biography[]
Chakkhaurin has at least one older brother.[1] His father, Tila'at, is a merchant, who has family connections in Dol Amroth. In T.A. 2978, Chakkhaurin spent some unspecified time apprenticed to his father's Dol Amroth brother-by-marriage, the taverner, Mhar-ašel of Harondor, before returning to Pelargir.
Sometime in 2977 or possibly late 2976, Chakkhaurin met Andrahar in Pelargir, and the two began an intermittent affair that lasted until October of 2980, when Tila'at sought to betroth his younger son. At Tila'at's request, Andrahar, who happened to be in Pelargir at that time, acted as a champion to his lover and assisted in bringing about the betrothal.
Chakkhaurin seems to have been a religious man in an a-lehani fashion, a trait that unexpectedly helped to cement the relationship with Andrahar rather than undermine it. Andrahar would afterward remember him and the religious dimension and expression of their relationship very well.[2]
